5 October – World Teachers’ Day

Teachers Day - Elizabeth Place

World Teachers’ Day was established in 1994 to honour and celebrate teachers and teaching organisations worldwide. Teachers have a large impact on children’s development and learning, and they are beloved members of society. They dedicate their lives to children and higher education, and they make the world a better place through a profession that gives back.

World Teachers’ Day was created by UNESCO to recognise the key role that teachers play in the quality and accessibility of education worldwide. The organisation sought to commend teachers for their hard work, and set a precedent for excellent and well-resourced educational programmes.

Thank a teacher or professor today for their valuable work, and let them know that they are appreciated and admired.
